What It Costs, And Why.

We will not pretend a single number fits every home. What we will do is show you exactly how we price both services, what moves the number, and what is always included — so nothing at your estimate is a surprise.

The Model

Measured, Not Guessed

Permanent Lighting

Priced per linear foot of roofline

We walk your roofline and count the exact footage we are covering, including peaks, dormers, and any detached structures you want included. A typical single-family home lands around 100 to 130 linear feet.

Always included:

  • Channel, fixtures, wiring, and controller
  • Professional install and cleanup
  • App pairing, scene setup, and scheduling
  • Walkthrough and training

Artificial Turf

Priced per square foot installed

We measure the area and assess what is underneath it, because base and drainage work is a real share of the cost. Per-square-foot pricing typically improves on larger areas since setup and mobilization get spread further.

Always included:

  • Excavation, haul-off, and sub-grade prep
  • Compacted aggregate base and grading
  • Drainage, seaming, edging, and infill
  • Power-brooming and final cleanup

Lighting

What Moves The Number

In rough order of impact. If you want to sanity-check a quote from anyone, these are the things to ask about.

Biggest factor

Linear footage

The primary driver. We wheel the roofline and count exactly what we are covering. A typical single-family home runs about 100 to 130 linear feet.

Moderate

Roofline complexity

Multiple gables, dormers, steep pitches, second stories, and detached garages all add install time and separate runs.

Moderate

Zones and runs

More independent zones means more wiring and controller capacity, but also finer control over which sections do what.

Minor to moderate

Access

Anything that makes safe access harder — height, pitch, landscaping, tight side yards — affects crew time.

Varies

Market

Labor and permitting costs genuinely differ between St. George and Tampa, so our per-foot rate differs too.

Optional

Add-ons

Soffit integration, landscape lighting tie-ins, extended warranty coverage, or additional controllers.

Turf & Putting Greens

What Moves The Number

Two yards of identical size can quote very differently. Almost always, the reason is what is underneath.

Biggest factor

Square footage

The primary driver, and per-square-foot pricing generally improves as the area grows because mobilization is spread further.

Significant

Excavation & haul-off

Removing established sod, old gravel, or compacted clay costs more than a bare dirt lot. Access for equipment matters here too.

Significant

Drainage requirements

A yard that already sheds water needs less work than one that needs regrading or additional drain lines routed away from the house.

Moderate

Turf specification

Pile height, face weight, and fiber quality all scale with price. We will show you samples side by side so the tradeoff is visible.

Moderate

Edging & borders

Bender board, concrete bound edges, paver borders, and complex curves each carry different material and labor costs.

Premium build

Putting greens

Greens cost more per square foot than lawn turf — tighter base tolerance, contour shaping, cups, and sub-drainage.

The Long View

One Cost Instead Of A Recurring One

Both services replace an expense you are already paying. That reframing matters more than the sticker price.

Seasonal lights vs. permanent

Paying a crew to hang and remove lights every November and January is a recurring annual cost that buys roughly six weeks of use. Permanent lighting is one install that runs year-round — holiday scenes in December, warm white architectural lighting the other eleven months — with no ladders and nothing in storage.

Natural lawn vs. turf

In St. George a natural lawn costs you water every month of the summer, plus mowing, fertilizer, weed control, and reseeding where the heat or the dogs won. Turf removes all of it. With Washington County water rates trending up, the payback window keeps getting shorter.

Your Estimate

What To Expect

  1. 1
It takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

Long enough to measure properly and answer your questions. Not a two-hour sales presentation.

  2. 2
We measure in front of you.

You see the footage or square footage we are pricing, so the number is traceable to something real.

  3. 3
    You see real examples.

Photos of comparable homes in your market for lighting, or physical turf samples in daylight.

  4. 4
You get a written price before we leave.

Itemized, with any options priced separately so you can decide what you want and what you do not.

  5. 5
    No deposit, no deadline.

Take it, think about it, compare it. There is no expiring discount and nobody will chase you daily.

Pricing Questions

Fair Questions

Why not just publish a price per foot?
Because a single published rate would be wrong for most homes and we would rather not bait you with it. Labor rates differ across our 11 markets, a steep three-gable roofline takes far longer to install than a simple ranch, and turf pricing swings significantly depending on how much excavation and base work the yard needs. A flat number online would either overcharge the easy jobs or set up an uncomfortable conversation on the easy-to-quote ones.
Is the estimate really free?
Yes. No charge, no deposit, and no obligation. We measure, show you options, and leave a written price with you. Many homeowners take a quote and install the following season, which is fine.
Will the final price change after the estimate?
The written price from your on-site estimate is the price. The only way it changes is if you change the scope — adding a detached garage to the lighting run, expanding square footage, or adding a putting green. We will re-quote in writing before doing any of it.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, for qualified buyers. Ask about current terms when you request your quote and we will walk you through what the monthly number looks like alongside the cash price.
Is permanent lighting cheaper than hiring someone every year?
Over a long enough window, almost always. Professional seasonal install-and-removal is a recurring annual cost that buys you about six weeks of use and nothing else. Permanent lighting is one cost that typically pays back in a handful of seasons and then runs year-round as architectural lighting. We break the comparison down in our guide on permanent versus seasonal lights.
Does turf actually pay for itself?
In the desert Southwest it usually does, over a few years, through eliminated irrigation, mowing, fertilizer, and reseeding. The payback depends on your yard size, your water rate, and whether you currently pay for lawn service. We will run your specific numbers at the estimate rather than quote you a generic figure.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. Install, wiring, controller, app setup, programming, cleanup, and warranty registration are all in the lighting price. Excavation, haul-off, base material, drainage, seaming, edging, and infill are all in the turf price. If something genuinely falls outside scope — an electrical panel issue, for instance — we tell you before we touch it.
